Oh Gods she's yelling at me, right here on the hanger deck for everyone to see, Lee thought dismally as he stood in front of the Viper with Starbuck getting in his face.

He wasn't cut out for this job of CAG at all, he was way too inexperienced and that inexperience was showing after 237 straight missions.

He wasn't supposed to be their friend she'd told him, ok maybe she had a point there. He wasn't supposed to tell them to be careful though? Well yes they were supposed to shoot Cylons out of the frakking sky as she'd screamed at him, her finger waving in his face but they needed to stay alive too. Staying alive necessitated taking care didn't it?

Ok so she wanted to be ordered instead of asked to take the pills; that he could do. Smack her in the mouth? That he could do too if he needed to; not that he wanted to though.

She'd finally stopped and he'd stared at her, utter confusion and embarrassment clear on his face. The realization that the entire hanger deck was still watching his disgrace almost overwhelmed him when the absurdity of it all hit him and he burst out laughing. He wasn't surprised to see that she did too and his reaction was as much a result of his exhaustion as a lingering desire to still be her friend and not her boss all the time.

"Well, I'm glad I'm not working for you," he said a hint of playfulness in his voice.

"You're damn right You're glad," she returned with a smirk.

He took a breath, despite his desires he knew he had to get her to take the pills. "So do I have to smack you in the mouth, Lieutenant?"

"No, sir, I'll take my pills." He pulled out the vial and held it out toward her.

"Oh, perfect." She was being sarcastic now but she held out an outstretched hand.

He poured the last of the pills out into her hand and watched as she put them in her mouth with an exaggerated click of her teeth. He was almost ready to carry on with their game, ask he if she didn't need some water with those pills, but there wasn't time now, "Carry on."

"Yes, sir."

The intercom announced it was time for the next briefing and he left the hanger deck wondering how much longer they could go on.
